You know all the benefits of exercise and still, you never seem to get to it! Workouts fall to the bottom of the list and you start that downward spiral.
In today’s time-crunched world, it’s easy to make lots of excuses or justify why you didn’t get your exercise in.
- Too busy.
- Too tired.
- No time away from the kids.
- Traveling for work and don’t know the area.
Even if you skip one workout, that can easily lead to skipping more. You’ll need to nip it in the bud.
So what should you do? Today I have five common reasons why people don’t exercise as well as how to get your workouts back on track!
1 – After a long day, you are just too tired to workout
Have you looked at what you are eating during the day? If you are munching on high-carb snacks or granola bars that spike your energy, you can usually expect to crash soon after.
Instead, try snacks that help your body to sustain energy without the spikes. For example a serving of nuts, seed or a protein shake can help.
Another idea is to find a workout partner, a fun way to stick to your workout schedule!
2 – You are super busy with limited available time.
Remember the days when workouts took well over an hours? Say goodbye to those days. I’m glad they are gone!
If you have just 30 minutes or even a quick 22 minutes, you can get a high-intensity workout done that gets real results.
For example, I switched to 30 minute or less workouts a couple of years ago and am in the best shape of my life! It’s pretty cool and I don’t think I’ll ever do an hour long workout again (unless I am outside walking or hiking.)
You can sign up for Beachbody On Demand right now and start streaming tons of workouts below the 30 minute mark.
3 – These workouts look too difficult
Whether you workout at the gym or at home, keeping up with the trainer should not be your goal. Listen to your own body and modify the moves as needed.
For example, in most all Beachbody workouts, there is a modifier that you can follow. You’ll still get a great workout!
Another point is that if you try to more than your body is ready for, you have a good chance of not recovering well from the workout. In turn, you won’t be too motivated the next day.
Exercise should energize and motivate you.
For example, I feel so amazing after exercise that it makes my whole day better. Sometimes I modify, other times I push myself. The most important thing is that you go at your own pace regardless of the what the trainer and cast are doing.
4 – You are traveling and don’t know where to exercise
Most hotels have a fitness room so you won’t need to wander too far. Another idea is to grab your Beachbody On Demand membership and take your workouts with you wherever you go. Just pack a set of workout clothes and you can exercise at any time right in the comfort of your room.
I was able to do this on a recent trip to visit family. We used my laptop to stream the workouts and got the whole family involved!
5 – You can’t get much exercise done when the kids are around.
Having young children that require lots of supervision may require to rise and shine an hour earlier.
Get your workout done before the little ones wake up. You can easily do that with Beachbody On Demand! Grab a 22 Minute workout and you are done with exercise for the day!
If your children are old enough to join in, that’s another fun way to get the family into fitness.
For example, I love getting my grandkids involved in the workouts. They can’t do all the moves of course but they do their own version and we make it a fun time! I especially love to do Yoga with them because it calms them down.
