If you have a large belly, then you have a spare tire around your middle. If you are already working out, you are well on your way to losing it. Great! That fat around your middle can cause lots of problems if you do not reduce it. According to the Mayo Clinic, your belly fat surrounds your abdominal organs and can cause you serious internal health like:
- Heart disease
- Type 2 diabetes
- Stroke
- Sleep apnea
If you are concerned, just get a tape measure and measure your waist. For men, if your waist measure 40 inches or more, you are carrying too much belly fat. For women, 35 inches or more is too much! Reducing your waistline takes work but it can be fun too!
Just 30 minutes a day of high intensity aerobic exercise will help you lose that belly fat. If you are just starting out, Slim in 6 or Hip Hop Abs are great choices. If you want a more intense workout, try Power 90 or P90X!
But exercise alone won’t be enough. You also need a healthy diet of whole grains, lean protein, fruits, and veggies to help you lose those extra inches. Don’t forget to limit your alcohol intake!
