Body Gospel looked like such a fun workout, I had to give it a try! The Power and Praise DVD is a 35-minute workout that you do in week 2 of this at-home fitness program. All that is required is you, water, towel, mat and the amazing Body Gospel resistance bands.
Body Gospel Power and Praise begins with a prayer. All the participants hold hands in a circle and give thanks to God. The prayer is then repeated in Spanish. Then the exercise fun begins!
Grab your resistance bands and start with a 4-minute warmup, where you march it out, tap side to side, and reach across giving the core a nice warmup too.
All the while, upbeat gospel music is playing and you can keep the music at the normal level, or play it louder! Power and Prasie will help you burn fat, build strength and the bands give extra resistance for upper body muscle toning.
The exercise modifier is excellent too! She provides the modification for every exercise. If you can’t do the full lunge or arm extension with the bands, the modifer shows you another way to do it while still benefiting from the excercise.
Body Gospel Power and Praise takes you through a series of exercises that alternate between cardio and strength training. You’ll do moves like overhead presses with the resistance bands and side to side squats to keep your legs toned. She also combines moves like the overhead presses with the squats.
You will really feel it in your upper body as your back, shoulders, triceps and biceps get in on the action using the bands. Inbetween the sculpting exercises you get to do fun cardio like the Hallejuah Shuffle!
Donna Richardson is a great motivator and provides good instruction for each exercise. She lets you know what is coming next and takes you through the intermediate step that you build on for each exercise.
The bands are used for the entire DVD workout except the last 5 minutes or so, ensuring that you tone that upper body. I love the diagonal fly moves. Your shoulders and upper back will look fantastic!
The workout is upbeat and you never stop moving.
Body Gospel is aimed at beginners. If you are already an advanced fitness person, Body Gospel is not for you. As a beginner, Body Gospel will give you a great workout. If you follow the nutrition plan and do the workouts everyday, you will be fit and improve your health.
For the final 5 minutes, Donna wraps up the workout with a nice stretch and then it is time for the Body Gospel Party! All the exercisers have fun dancing to the music.
