Rock climbing life after P90XYou finished P90X. Your body transformation is amazing. After 90 days of following the intense P90X program by Beachbody, you feel great, motivated, and have renewed cardiovascular endurance. What is next?

First, congratulate yourself on a job well done! In completing P90X and achieving amazing results, you really learned how to incorporate healthy habits into your daily activities. Heath and fitness is a lifestyle, not just something you do for a time and then stop.

Explore the possibilities of how you want to continue your new fit lifestyle. Each person is different so, my possibilities may be different then yours, but hopefully you will get some ideas. Remember, the possibilities in life are endless! Here are some things I thought about:

  • Start over with a different P90X program. Originally, I did P90X Lean.
  • Get P90X Plus and incorporate those routines into P90X Lean.
  • Take 2 weeks off and keep a smile on my face.
  • Continue my hiking and trail running, incorporating P90X into alternate days.
  • Try another Beachbody program that will challenge me in other ways, like Chalene Extreme.
  • Start doing indoor rock climbing once a week. Before P90X, I did not have the upper body strength to do rock climbing and am excited that now I do!
  • Take a kick-boxing class. I know I can do it because I gained balance, strength, and control in Kenpo X.
  • Fill my cupboard and refrigerator with foods that energize me and contribute to my health.
  • Drink Shakeology everyday – it’s a great supplement to my daily diet and helps me keep up with myself!

The list can go on. I am sure you will come up with many possibilities for yourself. I ended up taking a break for 1 week while I decided how to continue. Then, I started P90X over again, this time doing the P90X standard program. I found it to be even better the second time around. I was able to get more out of it and push myself even harder. I coupled P90X with my outdoor activities, so for example, I would skip the Cardio X and instead go trail running.

I love my P90X results. As some of you know, a few weeks ago, I tore a ligament in my foot during an intense trail running session. My foot was  in a cast for 6 weeks now. I have 3 weeks to go. But that did not stop me. I am still doing P90X upper body (with modifications), Ab Ripper X, and riding my stationary bike!

So, no matter what, you can incorporate some aspect of P90X into your life to continue getting great fitness results and living a healthy lifestyle. I am already putting together my fitness plan for when I recover from my injury to slowly get back to my activities, and P90X will be part of that plan.

john salley does p90xOn Sunday mornings, the original muscle beach in Santa Monica CA gets a healthy dose of muscle confusion. You see Tony Horton, the creator of P90X is there working out with a group of friends. They hit the sand for some fun in the sun and of course, some sweat. Open to the public, this weekly workout attracts P90X disciples of all shapes and sizes. It was here recently that a new exciting member of the P90X club showed up: John “Spider” Salley. John is a 4-time NBA champion! At the height of his career, he was an NBA rockstar!

After 12 years in the NBA, John turned to TV and was host of the “Best Damn Sports Show” for 7 years. John Salley was also recently involved in celeb reality shows. He was also inspired to get back in shape. Then he found P90X.

John Salley says that he likes the fact you can do P90X in your house, you can be embarrassing to yourself! What’s cool is that P90X makes you younger. He brought his daughter’s along for Tony’s Sunday morning fitness experience.

According to John Salley, if he were a young baller just starting out, he would go shoot a thousand shots a day like Kobe Bryant, work on his cardio, and do P90X!

stretch before exerciseWhen it comes to fitness, stretching is the unsung hero. Although stretching does not get a lot of attention, stretching is critical towards achieving peak fitness condition. You should stretch both before and after your workout.

According to Tony Horton, creator of P90X extreme fitness program, flexibility is the “fountain of youth”. Without flexibility (like yoga and stretching), Tony says he would not be able to do the things he likes to do. Flexibility makes your body more durable and less vulnerable to injuries.When you are out there working out really hard, and you are not flexible, you are going to get hurt.

Over the years there have been conflicting reports on the benefits of stretching and warming up before working out. Some fitness pros argue that stretching before exercise can cause injury if not performed properly.

Beachbody fitness expert trainers say that stretching cannot and should not be overlooked. According to Debbie Sieber’s, creator of Slim in 6, It is so important to warm up sufficiently, especially when it’s colder outside. You are more prone to injury if you do not stretch before exercise.

Tony Horton says that what happens to a lot of people, especially in the United States, is they do not want to stretch because it’s BORING! it you take the time and have some patience, and do yoga and stretching, you will be less vulnueralbe to injury.

In all of Beachbody’s at-home fitness programs, whether it’s 10 Minute Trainer,Chalean Extreme, Slim in 6, or P90X, they all provide ample warmup time. Stretching allows the body to become stronger and allows your body to reach it’s peak fitness level.

According to Tony Horton, at age 50, it is truly yoga and stretching that allows him to stay fairly injury free. Having more flexibiltiy and better range of motion will help you reach the next fitness level.

For many years, we witnessed a number of diet trends about what to eat and what to avoid. Now, the hottest new cooking trend has nothing to do with high heat. Instead, this trend keeps food raw. In face, new restaurants are popping up all over the place that offer healthy, raw food.

Missy Costello is a professional caterer and Tony Horton’s personal chef. She says a raw food diet is not for everyone but it’s very healthy. It also looks great on a plate. Keeping the food below 114 degrees F keeps the vibrant colors intact making it a feast for the eyes! Raw food is extremely healthy.

Michi’s Ladder is a guideline to help you eat healthy, fitness-friendly meals that is arranged in tiers. As you move downward on the tiers, you go from the best choices to the worst choices. If you look at Michi’s ladder, the tops tier is entirely raw vegg, legumes and fruit. Beachbody fitness program nutrition guides suggest you add more of these foods to your diet. With raw foods you get more nutrients and fewer calories which can help you with your body transformation and weight loss. It does take time to prepare raw food. So you’ll need to be very creative.

If you think a raw food diet is for you, Missy Costello suggests that you take it slow and find a balance between raw and cooked food. If you go too fast, it can wreak havoc on your stomach. Take baby steps! There is a balance you need to achieve with cooked and raw food.

Be aware that certain foods are best when cooked, such as raw meat, raw eggs, and raw milk.

Ab Ripper X versus Insane AbsAchieving tight, toned abs may seem like an insurmountable task, but this goal can be accomplished by following either P90X Ab Ripper X or INSANITY Insane Abs. Ab Ripper X is included with Tony Horton’s P90X fitness DVDs and Insane Abs is included with Shaun T’s INSANITY Deluxe fitness DVDs.

Awesome abs are not impossible, anyone can get them, it just takes commitment, know-how, and a good fitness program to follow.

Tony Horton saved one of the hardest exercises for last, Mason Twist. So after feeling your abs burn like crazy and wishing you were finished, you get to do 40 more repetitions!

The time goes fast, Tony explains each exercise and is easy to follow. He also makes it fun and is motivating.

Insane Abs

Insanity by Shaun T vs P90XINSANITY Insane Abs is 33 minutes of taking your abs to new levels that you never knew existed! On starting, you launch into a standing up warm up that will test your physical abilities! You can expect a full 5 minutes of cardio such as running in place with high knees and adding an upper body twist, and plyometric moves. If that is not enough to tire you out, Shaun T. introduces Tuck Jumps, Power Jumps, and T-Kicks.

The next set of exercises are performed on the floor and there is NO laying down .Can you balance on your buttocks with legs raised out in front and upper body at an angle (chest and head up)! That is the base position for the remaining exercises. You do exercises that are probably not familiar to you like Power Abs. Balance on your buttocks with legs bent and wide, upper body off the floor at a high angle. Now, bring your knees towards your chest and keep your hands in the air!

Insane Abs core exercises will do you in. And it does not end there. Shaun completes the routine with Oblique Rotations and Low Plank Hops from plank position.

Focusing hard on achieving each exercises makes the time go fast. Shaun T. explains and shows you how to do each exercise and is very motivating.

Power 90 by Tony Horton ReviewPower 90 is a 90-day at home fitness program created by Tony Horton. You may have heard of Tony Horton from P90X, an extreme fitness program that can transform your body from fit to extremely ripped in 90 days!

Power 90 uses a technique called Sectional Progression. Each move that you do works a specific muscle group. This guarantees muscle growth and fat loss throughout your entire body, one area at a time. The Power 90 In Home Boot Camp workouts are 35 – 45 minutes each. They don’t take much time so you can work fitness into your busy schedule. You do the Power 90 fitness program 6 days per week.

Does Power 90 by Beachbody really work? Like any fitness program, you get out of it what you put into it. If you stick to the Power 90 program, actually do it 6 days a week and follow the nutritional plan, you can get great results.

Power 90 In Home Boot Camp is aimed at people who are just getting started with a fitness program. Power 90 will make you sweat and leave you a little sore the next day! Tony Horton makes the workout intense. He is a great trainer and very motivating.

What equipment do you need? To do Power 90, you will need at least a resistance band. You can also use dumbbells for the sculpting workout that is part of the program. Power 90 comes with one FREE resistance band!

The workout routines consists of 3 circuits. Each circuit is 35 – 40 minutes. It is challenging to go through the circuits! You also get 2 Ab Ripper routines. Take a look at Ab Ripper 100. It is good for beginners and easy to learn. Ab Ripper 100 is also effective at working your abs in a systematic way for maximum effectiveness. The exercises are familiar ones and you do 10 ab exercises for 10 repetitions each.

Many people who want to do P90X do Power 90 instead. P90X is a very extreme fitness program and if you are just starting out, I do not advise that you do it. If you are considering P90X, I recommend you do Power 90 to prepare for it.
